God or No God?
Paul, a persecutor turned martyr writes in Romans 1:20, For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made...  Consider the complexity of you.  You are a complex being.  Your body is highly functional, your body is self-adapting, you are intelligent and you have feelings.  Are you just a mere result of mere coincidence?  Consider even the existence of the spinning ball of matter on which we exist, the Earth.  Even in the midst of billions upon billions of stars, the prospects for a planet capable of creating life and sustaining life for billions of years without falling into a star or colliding with an apocalyptical space object are remote at best.  Just think about it...

How do I know that God is the God of the Bible?
With thousands of religions in the world today, it is hard for people to decide which is right and which is wrong.  Some people want to accept all religions and claim all to be true while others have suspicions about them all.  In the midst of all of these religions, there are several distinctions of message of Jesus Christ.

The Bible teaches:

  1. One eternal and all-powerful God is the designer, shaper and ultimate Lord of the universe.
  2. There is sin in the world and human efforts are not going to make it go away.
  3. God has given men the freedom to live their lives and to reach out to Him.
  4. God has made a way for healing the lives and renewing the minds of men and women through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
  5. Love is the key ingredient to living an abundant life.
  6. True believers are able to find unsurpassable peace, joy and hope in life

In addition to these things, there is abundant historical and archaeological evidence that the events of the Bible truly happened.  Some excellent resources are The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel or the enduring research of Ron Wyatt.

If you still have difficulty finding the truth, seek out God.  Pray for answers and open your ears and your heart for it says in Joel 2:32, Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved and Matthew writes that in the midst of life we should seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all theses things shall be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33).  It takes a touch of God's hand to reveal the truth, but it is His promise that if you seek him with patience, then in the end you will find Him.  In I Timothy 2:4 it is written that God wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. In John 3:16 it is written, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  God wants to bring you eternal life.

Is There Wrongdoing in Your Life?
Man has been sinful since the very first crime which was committed by Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:6 says, When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. In Romans 3:9-12, Paul writes We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. Sin is not just the things that we see everyday in the world and recognize. Sin can lie entirely within a person's heart. Most people consider murder to be a mortal sin, but Matthew 5 says that if you hate your brother you are in danger of judgment. Many men consider adultery to be a sin, but scowl when Matthew 5 says if you look at a woman lustfully you have sinned. These are sins of the heart and all represent the rejection of the authority of an all-powerful and loving God. These sins are what separates us from God. Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. God is holy, meaning absolutely perfect and without sin. God cannot reside with sin. Holiness is something that is hard for a man to understand, because no man is holy. Man is not holy and because of this man must be separated from God, for God cannot be in the presence of sin. Outside of God's presence, all that exists is death.

There is only ONE way for man to reach God
For thousands of years men have been trying to bridge the gap between God and themselves. Men have tried to use good deeds to bring them to God. Other men have used religion as a way of reaching God, but none of these ways can possibly succeed. In John 14:6 the Bible it is written, Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. God sent Jesus to earth to make a way for you to know Him. The entire Bible was written about this man, even thousands of years before he was born. Acts 10:43 says, All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.  Christ died on a cross and was killed by men. When he died He took our sins with Him and as he died he cried out, Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing (Luke 23:34). On the third day Jesus rose from the grave and all men and women were feed forever from the chains created by sin if they would only believe.

The Final Answer
If you want to develop a relationship with the God of the universe who knew you before you were even born (Psalm 139:13), you must first of all confess to God that you are a sinner.  We all have dark secrets and even obvious sins in our lives and no matter how hard we try we cannot find complete freedom from these sins on our own.  You can communicate with God anywhere, even without speaking, because he can see inside of your own heart. Confess before him who you are and how you feel about yourself.  Tell Him that you desire his love and need His deliverance. Ask for His forgiveness for ways in which you have failed.  Remember that his sinless body was tortured and hung.  He was mocked and ridiculed by those who lifted Him up and the one he loved the most, God the Father, turned away as the punishment was fulfilled. By His grace, the Father gave up his Son for our sins. Ephesians 2: 8-9 says, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.  He holds each of our lives in His hands.  Confess before him that he is your savior and make him the Lord of your life and he will bring you JOY!

What you need to do next?
The first step I would take would be to find or purchase a Bible and begin reading it. In doing this you need to ask God to help you interpret the words. Another step that you should take is to find others who will help you grow.  Look for a church in your area, look for a small group or look for a friend who knows the Lord.  Relationships with other believers are essential for providing accountability and comradery which we often need in this world to keep our eyes focused on the Jesus Christ.
