Planter's Report #55Dear Powerful,Prayerful Friends:
Just a woodsy greeting so you can be among the "leaf peepers." The wonderful transition which occurs each Fall, filling the hills and valleys around here with blazing color, catches our eyes, lifts and soothes our spirits, awes us, and causes us to thank the God of such glory for this grand privilege we have of viewing His handiwork.
Also, since we have had such a continuous rain-filled calendar (the folk in New Hampshire report that they have seen farm animals gathering on high ground in pairs), I thought this bright spot might be
just the thing.

We had a great time last weekend hosting a film at the Cross Mills Library. "Beyond the Gates of Splendor" is a well done update of God's work among the Auca since the spearing of the five missionaries 50 years ago. The DVD remains with us so it is available for viewing by anyone or any group.
We have a regular launch team meeting this Sunday evening at 6PM at Randy and Shelby's.
For those of you who are watching and not part of the launch team, I imagine it seems like a lengthy process for us to become "official." For us it is a
profitable journey of discovery and solidification.
We have the first meeting of the "Steering Committee" on November 6. This is a District
mandated committee which includes members from "the Plant"(South County), the "Mother" church
(Grace), and the District. It will help to facilitate, filter ideas, pray, counsel and ensure fiscal accountability. A good thing. Seeking to improve the possibility of success.
We are seeing that God is challenging us to care for those abusing alcohol and drugs, those pregnant and unwed, those hurt through marriage and family breakup. These are the needs we are shoulder-to-shoulder with in our acquaintance. These are "Jesus" to us, "in as much as you have done it unto the least of these...you have done it unto Me."
Come join us, where it counts.
"To live and communicate the love of God so people will enjoy a mature relationship with God and each other through Jesus Christ."
For the heart of South County,
Russ
P.S. Carol and I plan, the Lord willing, to leave for Israel on November 10, the very anniversary of ten years of our remarriage. How we thank the Lord for the extraordinary thing He has done and is doing in our lives. That you pray is encouraged: for our marriage and our trip. CRussH
